These practicals are for making, editing and showing real media files. Students should open a tool, try it and save the result.

Do first
  1. Open one image, one audio tool and one video tool.
  2. Point to the buttons for crop, cut, trim and export.
  3. Try one small change in each tool.
Do in class
  1. Show one image and ask students to crop and resize it.
  2. Record a short audio clip and remove silence from it.
  3. Trim a short video clip and add a simple transition.
  4. Save and share the finished file with the class.
Evaluation
  1. Quizzes and tests on multimedia concepts and file formats.
  2. Peer evaluation of the edited media file.
  3. Presentation of the final image, audio or video project.

Mini challenge quick creation task

Make one poster image, one 20-second voice note and one 15-second video clip. Present all three files and tell the class what tool you used.

Step-by-step tasks practice by editing
Task 1 — Image Editing (Crop & Resize)
  1. Open an image in Pixlr X or any editor.
  2. Crop to a 4:3 frame, resize to 800×600, and export as PNG.
  3. Verify: file size reduced and aspect ratio correct.
Task 2 — Layers & simple retouch
  1. Create a new document, add text on a new layer and export with transparency.
Task 3 — Record & edit audio
  1. Use Audacity or Audiomass to record a 30-second narration.
  2. Trim silence, normalize volume and export as MP3.
Task 4 — Video trimming & simple transitions
  1. Use Clipchamp/CapCut to import two clips, trim, add a crossfade transition and export at 720p.
  2. Verify playback on desktop/mobile.
Project — Create a 30s multimedia clip
  1. Combine an edited image, a short audio narration and a trimmed video into a 30-second clip.
  2. Export and present in class with a one-paragraph explanation.
